Lectures for Light Motor Vehicle

 

All students who register for LMV 20/30/40 20 minimum classes Training Course must attend 8 mandatory lectures.
These lectures are conducted 7 days a week. We offer these lectures in English/Urdu and Arabic at different locations across Dubai such as DDC Head Office (Port Rashid), Al Barsha, Jebel Ali, Qusais and Aweer.

Lecture 1 : Attitude and Responsibilities of the Driver

Lecture 2 : Knowledge of Traffic Rules and Regulations

Lecture 3 : Characteristics of Road Users

Lecture 4 : Driver Condition

Lecture 5 : The Driving Environment

Lecture 6 : Driving on Freeways, Traffic Violations & Route Planning

Lecture 7 : Hazard perception training

Lecture 8: Traffic Accidents, Case Studies & What to do in an Accident

 

Rules of Attendance

 

  • Please ensure all compulsory lectures are attended before appearing for the Road Test.
  • Please ensure you have attended the Lecture 1 & 2 before your practical training and Signal Test.
  • Please ensure you have attended all the 8 lectures before your final assessment test.
  • If you will be absent from a lecture, please give 48 hours notice
  • Ensure payments for training and tests are made in good time to avoid unnecessary issues.

LMV Curriculum 

 

The Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) curriculum has five stages which are summarized below

 

Stage 1 Subjects: - off road

 

  • Vehicle checks
  • Vehicle controls
  • Cockpit drill
  • Passenger safety and load security
  • Moving off and stopping safely and accurately
  • Steering and other basic control skills

 

Stage 2 Subjects: - 40-60kmh roads/light to medium traffic

  • Rules of priority
  • Rules for systematic driving (MSPSL)
  • Approaching and emerging from junctions
  • Meeting and crossing the path of other vehicles
  • Dealing with obstructions
  • Effective observation
  • Use of gears/making progress
  • Dealing with vulnerable road users
  • Dealing with pedestrian crossings

 

Stage 3 Subjects: - 60-80kmh roads/medium to heavy traffic

  • Planning and anticipation
  • Emerging (Two way streets)
  • Correct use of slip lanes
  • Dealing with traffic light controlled junctions
  • Appropriate speed and safety margins
  • Effective judgment of speed and distance
  • Changing lanes and overtaking slower vehicles
  • Making U turns
  • Dealing with roundabouts
  • Night driving

 

Stage 4 Subjects: - off road

  • Angle parking 60º
  • Garage parking 90º reverse to the right
  • Parallel parking
  • Three point turn
  • Moving off on an incline
